Hi guys, I thought I would give you some of the background of the naturalized daffodils. Actually, it goes back to the early 1990s and it involved many people, students , teachers and community members, over a few years. The school decided to do something nice for the community as a whole. Mrs. Clark brought in BC Cancer Society daffodils to sell as a fund raiser. We purchased a few boxes of bulbs and teachers and students went around after school hours and randomly planted them. It was very successful. After a few years, we weren't able to purchase the Cancer Society bulbs but did find a supplier for bulk bulbs. That is why there are a few crocus and tulips around. I believe as a school activity the project ended before 2000. However since then many individuals have planted bulbs for the benefit of all community members. Many of us now look forward to seeing the spring flowers. People were encouraged not to pick them but to leave them for the benefit of everyone and the flowers have thrived.
Miss Mathers was my teacher starting with grade 4 in 1955. She was amazing. Grade 4 - 9 in one room. And her ear piercing whistles would peel paint off the wall! Believe it or not, she let us jive at the back of the classroom to the music of Elvis Presley! Cool memories!
Yeah! We gots ours. So beautiful
